Volunteering

How do I remove myself from an opportunity I was interested in?

Please go to the Service Opportunity page where you had previously indicated interest, and click on the “I No Longer Want to Volunteer” button which appears in the top right corner of the screen.

Can my children volunteer?

To register on the Volunteer Portal one must be at least 18 years old as outlined in our privacy policy and terms of service. Youth will be able to participate in other programs that are age-appropriate. We are unable to provide service opportunities for children through the Volunteer Portal.

Why haven't I been given a volunteer assignment yet?

The SRF/YSS Volunteer Portal is still in an early stage of development. Our program areas and opportunities for service have grown immensely in the relatively short time since the Volunteer Portal launched and will continue to expand in the future. We appreciate your desire to serve. Please stay in touch with us and keep checking back to see what new opportunities may interest you. And, if you have ideas that may be helpful, please share them with us. We are very interested!

Can I still volunteer if I don’t want to give you this information?

Yes. However, we would need your contact details and some basic information about your skills and interests to help us match you with a suitable volunteer opportunity. So please provide whatever you feel comfortable sharing. If for some reason more information is required to appropriately place you, a program administrator will follow up with you.

If I have never volunteered for SRF/YSS, can I still apply?

Yes. We recognize that some members do not live near an SRF/YSS temple, center, or group, and have never had the opportunity to serve Paramahansa Yogananda’s work in this manner. We welcome your interest now.
